Conscious Box: August 2013 Review

Conscious Box | August 2013Hello, and welcome to our third installment of Conscious Box reviews, August 2013! Conscious Box is probably one of the best eco-friendly subscription box services out there, and they even offer gluten-free and vegan options. Each month, they try to introduce you to green choices for every day products. In the past, I’ve received food, cleaning supplies, paper and even cutlery!

This month… I was a little disappointed. I feel like I got a collection of dietary supplements and items I’d already tried before. And that’s definitely a let down.

In this month’s box I found:

  • Stash Tea Organic | Very Berry Herbal Tea
  • A.Vogel | Herbamare Original
  • Slumberland Snacks | Sleep Squares
  • Sneakz Organic | Yummy Veggie Nutrition Milkshake
  • Clif Bar | Sierra Trail Mix Energy Bar
  • Happy Tot | Super Toddler Bars
  • MRM | Veggie Protein
  • Barbara’s Organic | Snackimal Cereal
  • Amazing Grass | Green Superfood
  • Nordic Naturals | Omega-3 Jellies
  • Allimax | 100% Allicin Capsules
  • MRM | Relax-All or Digest-All

Stash Tea Organic | Very Berry Herbal TeaStash Tea Organic | Very Berry Herbal Tea
Sample Value: $0.22
Full Size Cost: $21.99 (100 count)
Buy at Amazon

Alright, to start things off we have this herbal tea from Stash Tea Organic. This isn’t a new item for me… I actually got it in my Conscious box last month, which is a huge disappointment. I just don’t understand sending the same item two months in a row. It seemed like an after thought, and I wasn’t impressed.

A.Vogel | Herbamare OriginalA.Vogel | Herbamare Original
Sample Value: $0.09
Full Size Cost: $17.49 (500 g)
Buy at Amazon

Now this is a pretty neat concept… organic spices? Aren’t most spices organic? Okay, yes I know they aren’t. I’ve been to more than one Wildtree party to know better! Anyway… this guy features a combination of sea salt and 12 other organic herbs and vegetables, like chives, garlic, basil, rosemary, and thyme. I haven’t tried this out yet, but it sure sounds tasty! Probably would be great in a soup.

Slumberland Snacks | Sleep SquaresSlumberland Snacks | Sleep Squares
Sample Value: $1.67
Full Size Cost: $24.98 (30 count)
Buy at Amazon

My hubby has trouble sleeping so I passed these off to him. I’m impressed there’s an eco-friendly option out there for something like this, so I definitely appreciated the information!

Sneakz Organic | Yummy Veggie NutritionSneakz Organic | Yummy Veggie Nutrition Milkshake
Sample Value: $1.67
Full Size Cost: $19.99 (12 count)
Buy at Amazon

I got these guys in my June 2013 Conscious Box, and I was not impressed. I’m going to have to pawn this off to an unsuspecting child somewhere because I really don’t find these things tasty at all.

Clif Bar | Sierra Trail Mix Energy BarClif Bar | Sierra Trail Mix Energy Bar
Sample Value: $1.08
Full Size Cost: $12.98 (12 count)
Buy at Amazon

Now, I love me some Clif bars! In finding this item in this month’s box, I learned my hubby had actually never tried one before. So, I did some sharing and let him take it to work. He was super pleased and I am glad I got him to try something new!

Happy Tot | Super Toddler BarsHappy Tot | Super Toddler Bars
Sample Value: $1.68
Full Size Cost: $4.20 (5 count)
Buy at Amazon

These guys came with me to work and they made a great little afternoon snack. They may be made for toddlers, but I found them to be light and yummy for grownups too!

These snack bars are gluten-free, organic and made from whole grains. And, there’s a ton of good stuff packed inside like organic sunbutter and the super grain salba.

MRM | Veggie ProteinMRM | Veggie Protein
Sample Value: $0.33
Full Size Cost: $15.23 (20.1 oz)
Buy at Amazon

Yep, probably not going to use this. These things are just not my cup of tea. I mean, maybe when I am feeling ambitious I’ll whip this up, but these kind of supplements aren’t appealing to me. If it’s something you’re into… MRM’s Veggie Protein Supplement is 100% all natural, gluten-free and vegan. It’ll give you seven grams of protein for only 40 calories, which could be appealing.

Barbara's Organic | Snackimal CerealBarbara’s Organic | Snackimal Cereal
Sample Value: $0.44
Full Size Cost: $3.74 (9 oz)
Buy at Amazon

Now, I LOVED LOVED LOVED this cereal! It was the first thing I dug into after opening the box and I immediately wished I had more! It’s not too sweet and had a wonderful hint of vanilla.

Amazing Grass | Green SuperfoodAmazing Grass | Green Superfood
Sample Value: $1.04
Full Size Cost: $35.87 (17 oz)
Buy at Amazon

This is another one of those supplement mixes that I would have to feel pretty ambitious to try. I’m sorry guys, I’m just not into these things! If it’s up your alley and are dying to know more… Conscious Box says:

Get all your fruits and veggies in at once with this energizing and alkalizing gluten-free, vegan, and raw superfood blend. Simply add to your beverage of choice for enhanced energy levels, immune function and a wholesome dose of vitamins. Yum!

Nordic Naturals | Omega-3 JelliesNordic Naturals | Omega-3 Jellies
Sample Value: $1.11
Full Size Cost: $21.21 (36 count)
Buy at Amazon

Okay, so these little guys or just cute and seem like a great way to get kids to get some essential omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. These yummy tutti frutti jellies help support healthy brain, eye and immune system function, and they’re just the right size for kids!

Allimax | 100% Allicin CapsulesAllimax | 100% Allicin Capsules
Sample Value: $1.60
Full Size Cost: $23.97 (30 count)
Buy at Amazon

I don’t know if it’s the packaging or what, but these capsules kind of freak me out. I don’t know, they just seem intimidating. I mean, they’re made from the amino acid alliin that’s  found in garlic, so they can’t be that bad right? Anyway, these guys are all about fighting bacterial, fungal and viral infections.

MRM | Relax-All or Digest-AllMRM | Digest-All
Sample Value: $0.14
Full Size Cost: $13.95 (100 count)
Buy at Amazon

Another dietary supplement! YAY! Do you sense the sarcasm in my voice? Two types of MRM supplements went out, and I got the Digest-All, which, you guessed it, is supposed to help you take a poo. They also sent out Relax-All which is supposed to help calm you down… I probably could use the latter more.

The Verdict
Cost: $19.99
Value: $11.07

Okay, so it’s probably pretty obvious I’m not too pleased with this month’s box. I was uber disappointed with the variety and the value! $11.07 for a $19.99/month box? What a let down! I don’t know, there’s just something left to be wanted when you get a box with so many similar products and products you’ve already tried. The cereal was a definite win, but other than that… I can’t say there was anything else I really loved personally.

I’ll probably be taking a step back from Conscious Box. I gave it a good run to try it out, but I think I’ve had my fill for a while.

Did you get this month’s Conscious Box? Am I crazy person? Did you love it? Let me know below!

Conscious Box: July 2013

Conscious Box July 2013So, last month I got a conscious box with a crazy value! It included a $50 wine gift card, so I decided to stay on another month to see if this was a regular occurrence. While I didn’t get any high-priced items this month, Conscious Box still did their part to introduce me to eco-friendly alternatives to everyday products for $19.95/month.

My first impression of Conscious Box didn’t change. These boxes are HEAVY and packed full with products and samples to explore. This month I received:

  • Last Round | All Natural Hangover Support
  • MRM | Hydration Factor
  • Organic Flavrz Fruit Punch | All Natural Liquid Drink Mix Energize
  • Skout | Gluten-Free, Organic Trailbar Apple and Cinnamon
  • Clean Ethics | Bottle Bright Water Bottle Cleaner
  • Ultima | Replenisher Everyday Health Drink
  • Orgain Healthy Kids | Organic Nutritional Shake
  • Stash Tea | Organic Very Berry Herbal Tea
  • Episencial | Soothing Cream
  • Ecover | Automatic Dishwasher Tablets
  • Qbel | Whole grain Minty Mint Wafers
  • Nordic Naturals | DHA Xtra
  • Similasan | 100% Natural Computer Eye Relief Drops
  • Eco-Gecko | Wooden Cutlery
  • Epic Dental | Fresh Fruit Xylitol Mints
  • Equal Exchange | Fair Trade and Organic Chocolate

Last Round | All Natural Hangover SupportLast Round | All Natural Hangover Support
Sample Value: $1.66
Full Size Cost: $9.95 (6 pack)
Buy at Conscious Box

Now, let me just say I am not the one in the family who needed this product last weekend. My poor  husband had a little too much fun at the bar Saturday night and was in need of hangover support the following morning. I’m never really sure how much these things work, but he was able to function throughout the day, so that’s a bonus!

This drink recommends taking it before you go to bed, and while my hubby took it the morning after, it still seemed to help! The best part is that this drink is all-natural and made from a proprietary blend of ingredients like stevia extract, kudzu root extract and green tea extracts.

MRM | Hydration FactorMRM | Hydration Factor
Sample Value: $1.33
Full Size Cost: $19.99
Buy at Conscious Box

This seems like it could also help in the hangover recovery process. I mean, you gotta stay hydrated! I guess it works like this: MRM Hydration Factor helps improve intracellular hydration and regulates thirst. Just mix it with water. This seems weird to me and I never really buy into these things… but, it’s kind of cool to know it’s out there!

Organic Flavrz Fruit Punch | All Natural Liquid Drink Mix EnergizeOrganic Flavrz Fruit Punch | All Natural Liquid Drink Mix Energize
Sample Value: $4.49
Full Size Cost: $8.99 (6 pouches)
Buy at Conscious Box

I got a couple of these in last month’s box, so I was definitely familiar with these guys! I bring them with me to work, where they receive mixed reviews from coworkers. Made with organic lemon, agave syrup, orange, and hibiscus, Organic Flavrz All Natural Liquid Drink Mix provides a deliciously simple boost of immune-system supporting nutrients and antioxidants.

I like them okay. They change the texture of the water, which is kind of weird, but it definitely doesn’t stop me from using them!

Skout | Gluten-Free, Organic Trailbar Apple and CinnamonSkout | Gluten-Free, Organic Trailbar Apple and Cinnamon
Sample Value: $2.25
Full Size Cost: $26.99
Buy at Conscious Box

We’re a big fan of these snack bars in this house! It was the first thing the hubby ate out of the box and it didn’t take long for it to disappear.

This gluten-free snack is not only organic, it’s also vegan! They’re full of wholesome ingredients and are a great source for protein, fiber and other vitamins.

Clean Ethics | Bottle Bright Water Bottle CleanerClean Ethics | Bottle Bright Water Bottle Cleaner
Sample Value: $0.99
Full Size Cost: $9.95 (10 tablets)
Buy at Conscious Box

I was super curious about these! I immediately thought about using them for our smoothie cups as opposed to the a water bottle. I think they’ll do the trick just the same!

Clean Ethics says their bottle water cleaner gets rid of that yucky crud that builds up over time in water bottles. It’s still chlorine free, non-toxic and biodegradable.

Ultima | Replenisher Everyday Health DrinkUltima | Replenisher Everyday Health Drink
Sample Value: $0.43
Full Size Cost: $12.80
Buy at Conscious Box

I’m amazed that they can make these water enhancers vegan and non-GMO. I mean, there’s gotta be some crazy science involved! I wasn’t too excited about this product, and haven’t tried it yet. Maybe one day when I feel like I need a little boost, I’ll give this plant-based enhancer a go.

Orgain Healthy Kids | Organic Nutritional ShakeOrgain Healthy Kids | Organic Nutritional Shake
Sample Value: $1.92
Full Size Cost: $22.99
Buy at Conscious Box

I got a very similar product to this one in last month’s Conscious Box, so I was very curious to try this out. Now, I’m not a kid, but you can bet that if a grown up doesn’t like something, a kid probably won’t!

This all-in-one nutritional shake is made with organic fruits and vegetables and packed full of protein. You won’t find any GMO, corn syrup or any of that artificial junk in this Orgain lunchbox buddy. Double bonus: they also make nutritional shakes for grownups!

Stash Tea | Organic Very Berry Herbal TeaStash Tea | Organic Very Berry Herbal Tea
Sample Value: $0.47
Full Size Cost: $4.20
Buy at Stash Tea

I’m a big tea drinker, and I’m always looking for healthy, organic options. I really like that these guys are caffeine free too, because I try to limit how much of that I’m getting.

I have to admit, I haven’t tried these yet. But, Stash Tea says it doesn’t matter when you try it. It’s good in the morning and evening! I’m thinking about brewing one of these up tomorrow morning!

Episencial | Soothing CreamEpisencial | Soothing Cream
Sample Value: $0.29
Full Size Cost: $11.00
Buy at Episencial

Now, I’m not sure I used this right! Episencial is a pediatrician-tested lotion that’s perfect for dry, sensitive skin. But, when I first saw it, I don’t know why, but I thought it would be good after washing my face. I didn’t even realize it was for kids! Now, while it’s perfectly fine to use on your face, it felt very heavy on mine, and I can’t say I enjoyed it. I’d definitely recommend this for elbows or other spots that need more nourishment.

Ecover | Automatic Dishwasher TabletsEcover | Automatic Dishwasher Tablets
Sample Value: $0.48
Full Size Cost: $5.95
Buy at Ecover

Now, I gotta say! I was really impressed with these! I wish my normal dishwasher tabs worked as well as these eco-friendly ones! My glasses had more sparkle, and they just got the job done!  These little guys are biodegradable and phosphate-free and are a safe, natural solution for getting the dishes done without the worry of harsh chemicals or cleansers!

Qbel | Whole grain Minty Mint WafersQbel | Whole grain Minty Mint Wafers
Sample Value: $1.40
Full Size Cost: $22.40
Buy at Amazon

I wasn’t a huge fan of these little wafers. I had a couple bites and then tossed them away, because I really just didn’t enjoy the flavor or the texture. It really was more of a texture thing than anything else. Maybe I just don’t like wafers? Who knows! Either way, these crispy mint wavers are dairy-free and non-GMO and made with whole grain and 70% cacao.

Nordic Naturals | DHA XtraNordic Naturals | DHA Xtra
Sample Value: $2.13
Full Size Cost: $31.95 (30 count)
Buy at Nordic Naturals

I already take a fish oil supplement, so I’m curious about this little guy…. Just add to water and get your dose of omega-3 and omega-9 oils. All I know is, the pills give me fish breath, so I’m a little nervous to try this out. (I’ve since started taking a gummy fish oil supplement to avoid that gross fishness) I’m wondering how it would work in a beverage… It just kind of sounds gross to me.

Nordic Naturals has their own benefits though. They only use the finest fish oils, third party tested for environmental toxins like heavy metals and dioxins. So, their fish oils far surpass international standards.

Similasan | 100% Natural Computer Eye Relief DropsSimilasan | 100% Natural Computer Eye Relief Drops
Sample Value: $0.05
Full Size Cost: $9.24
Buy at Walmart

My hubby is big on eye drops, so I immediately gave these to him. I haven’t heard any reports on them yet, neither positive or negative, but to me… eye drops are eye drops! But, it’s definitely cool to know there’s a brand out there that’s all natural! Similasan keeps it simple with just four simple active ingredients that help relieve blurry vision, hypersensitivity, eyelid spasms ad strained eyes!

Equal Exchange | Fair Trade and Organic Chocolate & Epic Dental | Fresh Fruit Xylitol MintsEqual Exchange | Fair Trade and Organic Chocolate
Sample Value: $0.47
Full Size Cost: $35.00
Buy at Equal Exchange

Yum yum yum, hello chocolate! Now, you can’t go wrong with these guys in my opinion. It’s chocolate. I mean, come on!

These little guys are made with cacao from farmer co-operatives and organic sugar fair trade partners. They’re vegan, soy-free and gluten-free and only contain five ingredients! Just simply delicious!

Epic Dental | Fresh Fruit Xylitol Mints
Sample Value: $0.11
Full Size Cost: $6.50
Buy at Epic Dental

Hey, I like mints. And, these a pretty tasty. No complaints here! They’re also sugar-free and feature Xylitol which dentists recommend to help stop tooth decay. These little guys are also gluten-free and safe for folks with diabetes or hyperglycemia!

Eco-Gecko | Wooden Cutlery
Sample Value: $0.04
Full Size Cost: $36.67
Buy at Good Start Packing

I was really confused when I saw this in the box. I had no idea what it was for and I kind of thought it was tied to another product. I didn’t even take a picture of it! It was just this little spoon that you’d find with those little ice cream cups you get as a kid. It wasn’t until later that I realized it was actually its own separate product. If you’re planning a picnic or a party, I can definitely see these as a great replacement to those plastic, petroleum-created cutlery. Eco-Geko’s spoons, forks and knives are biodegradable, compostable and 100% natural! They’re made from birchwood and Eco-Geko says they’re strong enough to tackle your toughest steaks!

The Verdict
Cost: $19.95
Value: $18.51

Overall, I was a little less impressed with this month’s Conscious Box. The value isn’t exactly what I’d hope it to be, and the products themselves were a little underwhelming. My favorite item in the box though was probably the Ecover | Automatic Dishwasher Tablets, which is surprising to me. My least favorite items are probably all the powders and mixes. There’s only so many ways you want to know about getting vitamins and flavoring water. After awhile, it gets kind of blah.

What did you think of this month’s Conscious Box? Got you curious? Leave your thoughts below!

Conscious Box: June 2013 Review

Conscious Box06.16.13 – I spent most of the day cleaning and cooking yesterday, getting ready for last night’s birthday celebration for my husband. After a LONG day of preparation, sitting down with a brand new subscription box was the perfect treat.

When my husband brought in the Conscious Box from the doorstep our dog Edgar was disappointed it wasn’t for him, and I was disappointed by the size. It seemed small to me. Then… I picked it up. This thing was HEAVY. So, I knew I was in for some good surprises.

First Look2

Conscious Box offers three options for $19.99/month, the classic box, vegan box and gluten-free box. Conscious Box aims to introduce subscribers to the most ethical and sustainable products on the planet with both full size and sample size organic, fair trade and natural products. They believe their boxes are a great way to try new healthy and honest alternatives for every aspect of life.

Conscious Box also features a point system that rewards subscribers for leaving feedback and reviews. These points can be used toward the purchase of your favorite products.

I went with the Classic Box, and the theme this month was “Be Spontaneous.” The idea being that summer is full of surprises and Conscious Box wants you to explore everything it has to offer. I received:

  • Smock Sustainable Paper | Card
  • Cloud Star | Buddy Wash  Original Lavender & Mint Shampoo/ Conditioner
  • Natural Vitality | Natural Calm
  • Greek Island Labs | Joint Mud
  • Earth Friendly Products | Organic Lemongrass Hand Soap
  • Sneakz Organic | Yummy Veggie Nutrition Milkshake (1)
  • Organic Flavrz  | Boost (2) & Revive (2)
  • Skout Bar | Apple Cinnamon (1) & Cherry Vanilla (1)
  • LARABAR Alt  | Peanut Butter Cookie Fruit and Nut Bar
  • Molly Muriel | Bar Soap (1) & Shampoo Bar (1)
  • Son for Men | Organic, Vegan, Non-GMO Soothe
  • Naked Wines | $50 Wine Gift Card
Smock

Smock Sustainable Paper
Card

Smock Sustainable Paper | Card
Full Size Sample Value: $5.00
Buy at Smock

This card is super cute! And, I love that I got a birthday card on Tim’s birthday! To bad I had already bought one for him, because this one would have come in handy. Still, one of my girlfriend’s birthday is next week, so I’ll be using it very soon. (Jen, this one is for you!)

Smock is based in Syracuse, New York and they make all of their cards using old school cast iron presses in a wind-powered facility. The card is made out of sustainable bamboo paper and has a wonderful authentic quality. Also, the gold foil is really beautiful.

Buddy Wash

Cloud Star
Buddy Wash Original Lavender & Mint Shampoo/Conditioner

Cloud Star | Buddy Wash  Original Lavender & Mint Shampoo/Conditioner
Full Size Cost: $10.45
Sample Value: $0.25
Buy at Cloud Star

Now, Edgar was pleased there was something in yesterday’s surprise for him to enjoy. Even if using it will involve a bath, and he’s definitely overdue for one. I think I feel more comfortable trying out this product than the doggy skin treatment from this month’s PawBox. Also, a friend of mine tried this brand before and loves it.

The shampoo/conditioner is supposed to be really gentle. It’s made with botanical extracts to give your pup’s coat and skin everything it needs. Edgar will probably get a bath with it tonight. I’ll update on how it goes!

Calm

Natural Vitality
Natural Calm

Natural Vitality | Natural Calm
Full Size Cost: $25.95 (30 Count)
Sample Value: $0.87
Buy at Natural Vitality

When it comes to adding something to water for health benefits, I usually stick with Emergen-C or Airborne. I haven’t tried Natura Vitality or even heard of it before. This drink is supposed to add magnesium and calcium to your diet, while helping you tackle stress, low energy and fatigue.

I tried it out. And, it tastes pretty good. You have the option of drinking it hot or cold. I went with the cold option since it’s raspberry lemon flavored. I don’t know if I’m still recovering from the party the night before or what, but I didn’t notice any immediate effect.

Joint Mud

Greek Island Labs
Joint Mud

Greek Island Labs | Joint Mud
Full Size Cost: $49.00
Sample Value: $8.16
Buy at Conscious Box

This was probably the one product in this month’s box that seemed kind of weird to me. The informational card says Greek Island Labs’ topical blends “support better join, colon and digestive health.” Seems kind of vague to me, and the sample itself doesn’t give much information either. It says you can use it on hips, and I sometimes have hip trouble, so I guess I’ll try it out. Not really sure what it will do though.

Hand Soap

Earth Friendly Products
Organic Lemongrass
Hand Soap

Earth Friendly Products | Organic Lemongrass Hand Soap
Full Size Cost: $3.49
Sample Value: $0.82
Buy at Earth Friendly Products

I was STOKED when I saw this generous deluxe sample size. It smells great and I immediately put it in our bathroom for all our friends to enjoy during last night’s party. It got some positive responses too! Everyone seemed to like it.

Earth Friendly Products uses pure, healthy and non-toxin ingredients that softens and cleans hands. It also has grapefruit seed extract and lemongrass for that awesome smell!

Sneakz Organic

Sneakz Organic
Yummy Veggie
Nutrition Milkshake (1)

Sneakz Organic | Yummy Veggie Nutrition Milkshake (1)
Full Size Sample Value: $2.08
Buy at Amazon

Well, now this is interesting. I don’t have kids, but I would think this would be great for getting little ones to eat vegetables through a chocolate milk disguise. I immediately put it in the fridge to cool off from its travels.

The Yummy Veggie Nutrition Milkshake is free from GMOs, antibiotics and synthetic hormones. It’s made with organic milk and packs a full serving of vegetables in every box.

UPDATE: I couldn’t drink this stuff. I brought it to work hoping it’d be a good veggie boost, but I just couldn’t drink it. Anyone have different experiences? Wondering if I experienced a fluke!

Flavrz

Organic Flavrz
Boost (2) & Revive (2)

Organic Flavrz  | Boost (2) & Revive (2)
Full Size Sample Value: $4.50
Buy at Conscious Box

Organic Flavrz aims to spice up bottled water with organic lemon, agave syrup and hibiscus. After a night of alcohol, I thought the Revive (Organic Rehydration) would be a good choice. You can add as much as you want to your drink, but I’m not really sure what to do with the pouch after you open it. I didn’t use the whole thing, so… do I just set it somewhere? Refrigerate? I expected the consistency to be like those Crystal Lite additives, but it’s more like the Emergen-C and Airbourne, and that kind of surprised me.

I plan on taking these guys to work with me. That’s usually when I need these sorts of drinks, and I like to share with friends!

Skout

Skout Bar
Apple Cinnamon (1) &
Cherry Vanilla (1)

Skout Bar | Apple Cinnamon (1) & Cherry Vanilla (1)
Full Size Sample Value: $2.25
Buy at Conscious Box

Skout Bars are made with organic, vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO ingredients and packed full of protein, fiber and vitamins.

My dear husband dug into these right away. He was on his way to a performance and took one with him last night. I got a full report this morning. He really enjoyed the Cherry Vanilla and wanted to know more about the brand. These could definitely become a repeat purchase. We already buy Larabars, so it’s good to try something new. He can’t wait to taste the Apply Cinnamon. Maybe he’ll share.

Larabar

LARABAR Alt
Peanut Butter Cookie
Fruit and Nut Bar

LARABAR Alt  | Peanut Butter Cookie Fruit and Nut Bar

We already purchase Larabars and have some in the house, but I hadn’t seen or noticed the Alt variation before. Looks like its pretty new, and like the other Larabars it’s gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO and dairy free. The Alt difference is lasting sustainable energy.

This is what I snacked on immediately during my pre-party planning. The Peanut Butter Cookie flavor is one of my favorites!

Molly Muriel

Molly Muriel | Volcanic Bliss Bar Soap (1) & Soft as Silk Shampoo Bar (1)
Full Size Cost: $12.00 ($6.00 each)
Sample Value: $1.00 (estimate)
Buy at Conscious Box

This was the first thing I pulled out of the box and I immediately went, “Ohhh! A shampoo bar?” Can’t say I’ve tried that before, but I have now! I used it last night and it was cool! It brought me back to my days as a little kid taking a bath in the pond at my grandpa’s farm, and all we had was a bar of soap.

Molly Muriel makes its soaps in small batches using ingredients like murumuru butter, coconut, jojoba, tea tree and sweet almond.

It worked pretty well, lathered up really nice and my hair felt super clean afterward. I didn’t use a conditioner, because I couldn’t remember if that was a part of the bar or not. I didn’t notice anything drastically different, positive or negative. But, I was happy to try it out.

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about the bar soap. I tried that too! Sorry, it’s not in the picture above, because hey were included together in the same pack. The soap has a great exfoliating component, but because it’s black, it leaves a streak on my white shower. But hey, it’s just soap! It washes off!

Son

Son for Men

Full Size Cost: $13.95
Sample Value: $1.00 (estimate)

I gave this to the hubby right away and he used it immediately while he was getting ready for his performance. He loves any kind of after-shave soothing treatments. I think he liked the smell of it too, because he came up to me afterward to see what I thought about it. It did smell really nice! I’m not sure if he used the whole thing… the informational card says ladies can use it as well! Wouldn’t mind trying it out on my legs, but I have a feeling he’ll hog this one to himself.

Wine

Naked Wines
$50 Wine Gift Card

Naked Wines | $50 Wine Gift Card
Full Size Cost: $50.00
Buy at Naked Wines

Um… HELLO! A $50 gift card for wine?! Yes please! I mean really, this alone makes the entire box worth it. I IMMEDIATELY got online to order my wine. I was worried $50.00 wouldn’t get me very far, but I was wrong! You have to order a minimum of 6 bottles, and shipping is $9.99. So, I think I am going to get great use out of this. The down side? Everything is sold out! My guess is from the influx of Conscious Box subscribers! I’m going to wait a while until they get some more product in stock.

Naked Wines has a hilarious welcome video that is worth checking out on the link above. Their whole take on wine is pretty interesting. Basically, you get wholesale wine prices at 40-60% off while supporting independent wine makers.

The Verdict
Cost: $19.99/month ($7.95 with coupon code below)
Value: $79.99

This box was great! Do you see that value? I got this box for $7.95 because I used coupon code FIRSTBOXFREE, so all I had to do was pay shipping. Another coupon code that has the same effect is GETAWAYFREE. I’m not sure if they still work, but it’s gotta be worth a shot!

I think my favorite item in the box is the wine. I mean, really you can’t beat that. I just need to wait for them to get some stock in, which is kind of frustrating. But, when you give out a deal like that, these things are bound to happen.

My least favorite item is probably the mud. Just because it was kind of confusing, and I’m not sure what it will do. I guess it’ll be kind of an experiment when I try it out.

I think I am going to stay on with this box for another month to see if they always have boxes this awesome. Certainly impressed me this time! Sound good to you? Try them out for yourself here.
